Search Box
The search box retrieves a list of search engines ('lookpicks') from a server and lets you choose quickly
which one you would like to use. At first, the field has a red background (or border). This
means that you can type the first few letters of a lookpick you want to
use and choose from the autocompletion choices. You can also type in a tag. Once you've done that, the search
bar turns green, and you can type in your search query. To go back to the lookpick
selection state, hit [escape] or click on the little red arrow on the right side
of the search field. You can customize the list of lookpicks to choose from
after creating a free account at lookpicking.com.
Also, you can go to 'settings'
and select one lookpick as your default. Thus set up, you don't have to decide anymore which
lookpick to use on every search. Instead, if you just type something in the red box that
is not recognized as one of your lookpicks, you will be taken to the default result
page using the query you just entered.
As long as you're not logged in, your autocompletion choices will be the 50 most popular
publicly visible lookpicks in english.
You can switch to the browser's standard search field via the engine selection button to the left of the search field (choose 'Standard Search Box'). To get back lookpicking,
this setting will be stored, so next time you start your browser, the standard search box will come up again.
Go to the search engine selection popup of the standard search, and select 'lookpick' (first item). When not visible, the lookpick extension will not make any calls
to the server, so give it a little time after bringing it up to fetch your settings.

Context Menu
Right-click on a text field on any webpage to bring up a context menu. There
should be a new item titled 'lookpick this...'. Select it, and a small popup window
shows up, allowing you to customize the new lookpick's title. Hit 'ok'. If everything went well
(it will!) you should observe a short flashing of the search box to tell you
that your lookpick has been added to your personal collection. It will instantly be
available in your search box, however, it will not be publicly visible until you
go to lookpicking.com and change that. Obviously,
you need to be logged into your acctount for this to work.
